Hi I’m Cathy Hawkes. I’ve taken on the North Leeds Franchise which covers LS postcodes in the Northern areas – LS2 – LS8, LS13 – LS23, LS28 and 29, along with the northern part of LS25 to include the likes of Barwick in Elmet and Aberford. I was born in Canada, raised in East Anglia and relocated to Leeds just over a year ago.
My background is within fashion and marketing, and I have worked within the NHS for the past eight years. Whilst I do not have a history in the property industry, the extensive training offered by Homefinder UK as part of the franchise package means I am now fully versed in the art of property finding, and looking forward to being of service to residents in these areas.
North East Leeds has many affluent areas, including the likes of Roundhay and Shadwell, and is also home to historic towns such as Wetherby, and Boston Spa which was established in 1744 as a Spa town with the discovery of limestone by John Shires, and is renowned for it’s Georgian architecture. Wetherby has been a market town since 1240. It is situated upon the A1 and stands 198 miles equidistant from London to Edinburgh and is a previous winner of Britain in Bloom.
For a rural setting, the ideal port of call is Otley, in North West Leeds. Otley is famed for its market days, though just as appealing are it’s exquisite shops and tea-rooms and it’s beautiful, undisturbed countryside, which has provided many an idyllic backdrop for rural series Heartbeat and Emmerdale. The river Wharfe which runs through the town provides a haven for anglers, bird-watchers and walkers alike.
Excellent transport links are available throughout the region; Leeds – Bradford International Airport, in LS19, offers good transport links throughout the UK and Europe as well as further afield to destinations such as Barbados, Mexico and the USA. The A1 and M1 are close by and offer good north to south road links with access to the M62 (east to west) not far away.
